If you’re anything like me, you probably heaved a heavy sigh when you read that last sentence. I mean, seriously, do you know any battle-weary wives who get excited about the idea of surrendering and letting go?

No?

Neither did I when I was battle-weary and marriage-worn. To me, surrendering and letting go sounded like a lot of work and nearly impossible with everything I was dealing with. Until I started letting go of my need to control.

Surrendering and letting go is about reclaiming your inner strength by releasing what no longer serves you and relinquishing the need to control every aspect of your life.

Letting go of my need to control was a big one for me, especially when so much in my marriage felt so chaotic. But as I gradually did, I found peace in accepting circumstances as they were.

Finding Peace: My Journey of Surrender

In 2022, I found myself drowning in overwhelming shame. This shame fueled my anxiety making it impossible to move forward. I felt like a Ferrari stuck in first gear, capable of so much more but unable to shift.

Desperate for change, I traveled to India, immersing myself in every Hindu ceremony I could find despite not being Hindu. I participated in these ceremonies for nearly four weeks daily, praying fervently to God to help me surrender whatever held me back from living my best life. Each day, I battled feelings of inadequacy and shame, yet I continued to pray for hours, releasing my burdens to a higher power.

Miraculously, I began to feel lighter. The clarity and peace that replaced my anxiety were transformative.

My gratitude knows no bounds as I continue to release what no longer serves me and embrace my true strength. Surrendering and letting go have empowered me to find peace and live a life filled with purpose and fulfillment.

This journey has taught me that letting go is not about giving up; it's about gaining freedom. You can reclaim your inner strength and find peace amidst the chaos by releasing the need to control. 


Five Practical Ways to Surrender and Let Go

In our fast-paced lives, finding ways to surrender and let go is crucial for maintaining peace and balance. Here are five effective practices to help you release stress and embrace tranquility in both mind and body:

1.     Mindful Breathing:

One of the simplest yet most effective ways to practice surrender is through mindful breathing. Take a few minutes each day to focus on your breath. Inhale deeply, hold for a moment, and then exhale slowly.

2.     Yoga and Meditation:

Yoga and meditation are excellent practices for surrendering physical and mental tension. Incorporate gentle yoga stretches into your routine to release stress from your body.

3.     Decluttering Your Space:

Letting go isn't just an internal process; it can also be physical. Spend some time decluttering your living space. Remove items that no longer serve a purpose or bring you joy.

4.     Say No:

Learn to say no to commitments that drain your energy or add unnecessary stress. By protecting your time and energy, you create space for peace and contentment.

5.        Connecting with Nature

Spend time in nature to ground yourself and find tranquility. Whether it's a walk in the park, a hike in the woods, or simply sitting in your garden, nature has a way of soothing the soul.
